What is Love? This question, simple in structure yet so vague and so complex in answer that many
have yet to agree upon a single definition. I may not have the answer, but I do have a concept of
what this phenomenon known as love is. Love is lying in bed for hours laughing and tickling each
other knowing that you could never dream of anyone else but your "perfect" person to spend the rest
of your life with.
Love is holding hands in the movies and feeling like you’re in middle school
again. It is being snowed in together for a week and not getting bored. It is being able to have
snow fights, and not caring how cold you’re getting. It is lying next to one another while making
snow angels, and then making fun of the way each other’s snow angel looks. It is making snow
people then going inside to drink hot chocolate. It is being excited about a kiss, and wanting that
kiss to last forever.
It is dancing and wrestling in the rain and not caring that we are getting
wet. It is having a pillow fight in your pjs with no make up and your hair flying everywhere, and
you knowing that I still think that you are the sexiest woman in the world. It is waking up to a
real "good morning"...the kind that you always dreamed of since you were a little kid. It is making
spaghetti together and spilling more pasta and sauce on the floor and each other than in the pots.
It is rubbing chocolate syrup on each other’s face just because it looks funny. It is taking a
candle lit bubble bath, and looking forward to a massage in candle light that you are going to get
afterwards. It is slow dancing in the living room and I holding you close to where we can feel each
other’s hearts beating. It is lying on our backs in the grass cuddling together, all while making
shapes out of the clouds.
It is sitting in a car holding hands just talking, cuddling, and
kissing, not caring what time it is or where we are. It is coming home from work as fast as I can
just to be with you. It is me coming inside every 30 seconds from cooking on the grill pretending I
need something just so I can kiss you. It's falling asleep and waking up with my arms still around
you. It is saying, "I love you" and meaning it so much your eyes fill up with tears of joy. It is
spending the day at the beach making sand castles and burying each other in the sand. Then we go out
for dinner and dancing; finally find ourselves standing out on the balcony telling each other our
personal deepest darkest secrets.
It is "making love" every time we have sex, then lying there
while looking in each others eyes being happy that it was with this person and no one else. It is
making love in the middle of the day just because we want to. It is shedding a tear on the way to
work because she is home sick and you cannot stay and take care of her. It is taking a warm shower
together, spending time to gently washing each other. It is looking forward to waking up by to the
most gorgeous person you have ever laid eyes upon. It is being able to cuddle together on the couch
watching movies at night. It is you laying your head on my leg and falling asleep when you watch
television, and you watching her sleep. It is being able to finish your sentence and to know what
you are thinking about when I look into your eyes.
It is having the little fights and the making
up after words. It is telling you I have a surprise and waiting a couple of days just to drive you
nuts and then giving it to you and you crying because you are so happy. It is buying you a dozen
roses just because I wanted to, and then surprising you in the way I give them to you. It is making
plans together for our wedding, so how it is not only your wedding, but it is our wedding. It is
walking through the mall hand in hand when we are 80 years old. True love, the kind of love that
only exists with a best friend...
